Version 1.1 · November 2026 · under legal review

Who is responsible for your data: DAILYCHINWAG LTD is the data controller. DailyChinwag is a trading name of DAILYCHINWAG LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17517430. Registered office: 53 Hartburn Walk, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 3YX. Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, number ZC278226. Contact: hello@dailychinwag.co.uk.

DailyChinwag holds personal information about two people: the subscriber (you) and the person receiving calls. We hold it to run the service you've asked for: nothing is sold, and nothing is used to train anyone's AI models.

Calls are recorded and processed so the companion can remember, so your updates are truthful, and so wellbeing concerns can be spotted. Processing happens with trusted providers under data-processing agreements (telephony, voice, secure database, email and payments providers); the current list, with what each receives and where, is at who we share data with.

Where a care home has arranged the calls, the home is the data controller for its residents' information and we act as its processor, under the data-processing terms in our care-home agreement. We are a controller in our own right only for our own legal records (the evidence of each resident's yes, the safeguarding trail and billing) and for same-day safety escalation to the home's on-duty number.

Where your data goes

Our database and email run in the UK and Ireland. Two suppliers process data in the United States: our voice provider (the audio of each call and what is said) and our AI provider (the written transcript, to check for anything worrying and to write the note). Each transfer is covered by the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses in that supplier's data-processing agreement, and neither may train on anything from a call. The full list, with each supplier's location, transfer mechanism and how long it keeps things, is on our sub-processors page. See the sub-processors page.

Care homes and other businesses we contact

If you work at a care home or a care group, we may hold your name, job title and work contact details, and your organisation's name, address, phone number and regulator details (CQC, the Care Inspectorate or Care Inspectorate Wales). We get these from the public register, your organisation's own website, Companies House, or from you when we speak. We use them, on the basis of our legitimate interests, to tell your organisation about DailyChinwag and to send things you ask for, such as a plain-English read-back of your inspection report. We only email organisations that are companies, LLPs or public bodies; sole traders and ordinary partnerships are not emailed without consent. We check phone numbers against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service before any marketing call, and every message tells you how to stop. If you ask us to stop, we will never contact you again and we keep only a note of your details so that we can honour that. We delete other prospect details 24 months after our last contact. You can ask what we hold, or object, at hello@dailychinwag.co.uk.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of everything we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it: email hello@dailychinwag.co.uk and a person will handle it within one month. Where the law requires us to keep something (consent evidence, safeguarding records, billing), we'll keep only that, and tell you exactly what and why.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to us (we acknowledge data-protection complaints within 30 days; see our complaints page) and to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, at any time. How to complain.
