Check-In
£89/month
Three 15-minute calls a week
or £890/year: two months free
For a mum or dad who's mostly doing fine, and a family who'd sleep better knowing someone's checking in midweek.
- Email to you after every call
- Missed-call alert: silence is never invisible
- Weekly email digest
- Chats about the weather, the garden and what's on the telly
Where we’d start
Companion
£149/month
A 15-minute call every day
or £1,490/year: two months free
A proper daily friendship, and the plan we’d suggest for most families. Daily calls are where the friendship really grows, and where we spot early if something isn’t right.
- Everything in Check-In
- How they seemed, call by call: a mood line after every chat and a fortnight at a glance on your account page
- Appointment reminders on their calls
- Tell their companion what to bring up, 'ask about the eye clinic', and hear what they said about it
- Their interests, followed: the team's score, the soaps, the garden
- Birthday & anniversary memory, with nudges to you
- If they mention they're running short of something, it's in your note
Morning & Evening
£299/month
Two 15-minute calls every day
or £2,990/year: two months free
For a mum or dad who lives alone and a family who'd like to know they're up and about, and settled for the night.
- Everything in Companion
- A call to start their day and a call to settle their evening
- One email to you a day, after the evening call (anything worrying, straight away)
All Day
£299/month
Daily calls up to 30 minutes
or £2,990/year: two months free
For someone whose chinwag is the highlight of the day, with time to really get into the old stories.
- Everything in Companion
- Up to 30 minutes a call: time for the old stories
- The monthly Memory Letter included

Which £299? All Day is one long call a day: up to 30 minutes to really get into the old stories. Morning & Evening is two short ones: a hello in the morning and a natter at teatime. Same minutes, same price; just a different shape of day.
The “They Decide” promise, on every plan
Nothing starts until they’ve had their welcome call and said yes, themselves. Family places aren’t open yet. Nothing is paid, nothing is set up, and nobody is rung until we ring you first.
When family places open: billed monthly in advance. Cancel any time from the end of the billing month, or pause for hospital stays instead of cancelling. If prices ever change, you get at least 30 days’ notice and can cancel before they apply.
Included in every plan
The things that make it DailyChinwag aren’t upgrades.
The honest introduction
Their companion introduces itself as a computer on the very first call, and answers honestly if they ever ask. No plan, at any price, includes pretending.
Two consultation calls before their first chinwag
We ring you first to get everything right, then we ring them, and nothing starts until they say yes, themselves, on their own phone. If they say no, we stop there, and nothing was paid.
The written safeguarding protocol
Your nominated contacts, in your order, agreed in writing at setup. Scam mentions, welfare worries and anything urgent reach the right person, with their exact words.
A companion who remembers
The trifle recipe, the neighbour's cat, what the doctor said last Tuesday. Every call picks up the thread from the last one.
Not sure which? Two questions.
Do they live alone?
How often does someone ring them for a proper chat?
Running a care home or a sheltered scheme? There’s a per-resident price and one portal for the whole home, care homes.
Why we cost more than the £30 services
You will find cheaper. Some of it is good. Here is exactly what the difference buys, so you can decide whether it is worth it for your mum or dad, and a fair word about the free option.
Their yes, on a recorded call, before anything starts
The cheaper services are bought by you and simply start ringing them. We ring them first, say plainly that their companion is a computer, and ask. Their answer is kept in their own words. If they say no, it ends there and you are not charged a penny. It is the most expensive thing we do and the thing we would never remove.
A written safeguarding ladder, to people you named
If something worrying comes up (money, a fall, a low patch, a caller they can't place), we ring and email the contacts you nominated, in the order you agreed, the same day, in their words. Not a dashboard you have to remember to check. We never ring 999: you know them, we know a phone call.
A person on the end of it
A named human reads what the system flags, and answers the phone when you ring. At the price of an unlimited-calls app there is nobody in the loop, because there cannot be.
Built for them, in their accent, on their phone
Choose who rings them: Elsie, a warm Geordie, or Arthur, a gentle Geordie. Both say plainly they're a computer, and you can swap if they don't click. No app, no internet, nothing to charge or learn. UK company, UK data, GDPR, and calls that understand what a coach trip to Scarborough was.
And the honest one: you may not need us at all
Age UK’s Telephone Friendship Service matches older people with a volunteer for a free weekly call, and it is a genuinely lovely thing. If a weekly chat with a volunteer is what your mum or dad needs, take it, with our blessing. There is usually a waiting list, and it is weekly rather than daily, and there is no note to the family afterwards. That is the difference. If it fits, it fits.
The money questions, answered plainly
Are these prices final? Any hidden extras?
The price you see is the price you pay: calls included, alerts included. There are no setup fees, no per-call charges, and no charge for the two consultation calls.
What does the 14-day cooling-off actually mean?
Cancel within 14 days of signing up for a full refund. If their calls have already started in that window, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the calls made, and nothing else.
What if they go into hospital, or stay with family for a bit?
A week at your sister's? Put the dates in on your account page and we simply won't ring: calls carry on by themselves afterwards, and their companion asks how it was. A longer stay or a hospital spell: pause the plan from the same page. Their companion picks the thread back up when they're home, and you're not paying while the calls aren't happening.
What can we set up ourselves?
From your account page: the time and the days they're rung (church on Sunday? club on Thursday? just untick them), notes for their next call ("ask about the eye clinic"), the dates that matter (a birthday to make a fuss of, an anniversary to tread gently round, a date never to bring up) and family who'd like updates. Anyone you add gets one message asking if they want them; nothing about the calls goes to them until they say yes.
How does cancelling work?
Any time, from the end of the current billing month: no notice period, no fee, no cancellation questionnaire. We know why subscriptions to a service like ours come to an end. Bereaved families can cancel with a single email or phone call, and we refund unused full weeks of the month.
Can we change plans later?
Yes: up or down, from the next billing month. You could start on Check-In and move to Companion once they're looking forward to the calls.
